Ex Corde Ecclesiae Medal
John
Paul II’s
vision of the Catholic university was promulgated in his Apostolic
Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae (1990). There
he makes clear the urgent need to teach Catholic truth and values
to the next generation of teachers. The Aquinas Center for
Theological Renewal, whose mission includes supporting the Graduate
School of Theology at Ave Maria University, was founded for this
purpose of teaching the next generation of teachers. Without
teachers grounded in Catholic truth and values, young people at a
pivotal time in their lives will not be exposed to the truth and
beauty of Jesus Christ. The Ex Corde Ecclesiae Medal is awarded
annually to a person from the South Florida community who has done
the most to support the Aquinas Center and the Graduate School in
their mission of evangelizing the Catholic academic world.
